Farewell ceremony of the P5 classes

| News Grundschule

It is a good tradition at the European School Munich that the fifth classes of the Primary School hold a small farewell ceremony. It marks the transition to the Secondary School, the entry into a new phase of life, and helps the school children with the transition.

In the last week of school, the P5 classes of the ESM therefore met in the playground. Due to the pandemic situation, of course, they met in small groups, wearing mouth-nose protection and keeping their distance.  The children brought colourfully decorated cajons with them, box drums, which were soon put to use. Under the direction of Christiaan Dekker, the classes drummed together. The school band and the choir played, a dance group performed, flags were waved. Primary School Director Alexia Giannakopoulou and ESM Director Anton Hrovath spoke to the Primary School children, bidding them farewell and encouraging them for the start at the secondary school at the Neuperlach site.

Finally, to celebrate the day, the children acted out a scene that some may know from films and television: They threw huge, self-made academic hats into the air to express their joy at graduation. The certificates were handed out, and there was a special surprise: ice cream on a stick, just the thing for the heat. A successful end to the Primary School years. See you next year at the Secondary School!
