We would like to extend a warm welcome to all new and returning colleagues for the 2025/26 school year!
We started with our traditional group photo in beautiful, sunny weather . This was followed by the joint opening conference for the primary and secondary schools with all teachers and staff. School Director Anton Hrovath, Secondary School Director Martin Duggen, Primary School Director Simona Cajhen and Director of Finance/Administration Andreas Wallrodt welcomed all new colleagues and thanked the entire ESM team for their outstanding commitment.
Anton Hrovath also outlined some of the educational priorities and highlights of the new school year.
In 2025/26, ESM was able to enrol 250 new students. This means that, for the first time in ESM's history, we have exceeded the 2,100-student mark — a new record that highlights the growing popularity of our school.
This school year, the focus will continue to be on the educational concept of 'active learning', which is of great importance to ESM. Additionally, we intend to focus on the topic of 'European values'. But what are they? Do they even exist? Do we live by them? These are some of the questions that we want to explore with our students. Our aim is to present the results of this 'search' at the school's 50th anniversary in May 2027.
Wellbeing and life skills will also continue to be a priority at ESM. We want to help students develop self-confidence, and encourage them to learn independently with the courage to make mistakes, both in class and in various extracurricular projects.
In February/March, a new PISA study will take place, and we hope to perform as successfully as last time.
Anton Hrovath wrapped up with a quotation from St. Augustine, which will act as a guiding principle for the upcoming school year: ‘What you want to inflame in others must burn in you!’
With this in mind, we wish all pupils, parents, teachers and administrative staff a successful start to the 2025/26 school year and hope they enjoy discovering the extraordinary opportunities that ESM has to offer.
