Little Europeans Celebrating Big

After the hustle and bustle of the very first day of school and the past weeks as “real” schoolchildren, the first-years welcomed each other as part of a small celebration on the 24th October 2018.

They sang the welcome song in many languages and in this way learning about the linguistic diversity of the European School Munich. They also discovered that there are exactly 12 stars on the European flag, a number that is symbolic of perfection. A year has 12 months, there are 2 x 12 hours in a day and in astrology, there are 12 zodiac signs.

For each country, one child pinned up a yellow star on a blue-coloured partition screen – the “European Sky” – which consisted of 16 stars in the end...this is how many languages there are in our first year classes! Its shape reminded of the respect flower that helps all the children to follow the school rules.

We hope that all first years make many new friends, have fun going to school and enjoy in the European diversity at our school!
