Juggling With Numbers

Puzzling, brooding over, calculating and estimating for more than one, while at the same time training logical thinking; this is what the world-famous Kangaroo Mathematics Competition is all about. It was held on the 16th March 2017 at the ESM. In the Primary School, pupils from years 3, 4 and 5 took part. In the Secondary School, over the 500 students of all sections, from years S1 to S6, participated.

This mathematics competition originally came from Australia and was held for the first time in 1980. It is a multiple choice competition with diverse, funny and tricky mathematical exercises, depicting real-life situations of students.

The aim of the competition is not only to show how much fun maths are, but to demonstrate the practical use. After all, basic mathematical knowledge is very often required in everyday life and in the job. In the field of natural sciences, process optimisation or technological development, deepened knowledge of mathematics is indispensable.
