Although the snow conditions could have been better, the track still offered optimal conditions for the downhill race. On Thursday, 5 March, the annual ski and snowboard race of the European School Munich took place. More than 200 pupils from classes P5 to S6 took part in the ski run in Sudelfeld, and another 50 went snowboarding in Spitzingsee. The times at the giant slalom were measured professionally, like at a real world cup race. The children and teenagers competed against each other in their respective age groups. Some parents were there to cheer on their children. At the end there were medals at the award ceremony. But even those who didn't make it to the podium had a good time.
Since 2007, the ski race has been organized every year for the winter sports enthusiasts of the school and enjoys great popularity. In addition to the sporting competition, the race is an important event in the context of transition, as pupils from Primary and Secondary School get to know each other.
The ski race was organized by the teachers Maria De Stefano and Bernd Auerhammer, the snowboard race was organized by the teacher Kristina Scheiber. They were supported by numerous other class teachers, as well as by many parents who helped as ski guides and race assistants. It was only thanks to the cooperation of all those involved that the event could be held so successfully again. The European School Munich would like to thank everyone for their great commitment.
