Sophie Scholl would have turned 100 years old on 9 May. To commemorate this anniversary, the 5th class of the French language section of the European School Munich, led by teacher Didier Nimsgern, studied the life of Sophie Scholl and the members of her resistance group against National Socialism, the White Rose. The class visited the Perlacher Forst cemetery on 4 May, where she is buried with her brother and other members of the group. They laid down white roses and played Sophie Scholl's favourite music: Franz Schubert's "Die Forelle". The cemetery and the prison where she was murdered are only 500 metres from the school.
