Happy 70th birthday to the European School Luxembourg and the European Schools system!

| News Allgemein

In 1953, the European Schools system was born. Against the background of the terrible experience of the Second World War, Marcel Decombis, the first director of the European School Luxembourg, formulated his vision of a pan-European educational area.

In it, the European Schools would bring together young people from different nations and help them become cosmopolitan, unprejudiced Europeans while maintaining their cultural roots.

In 2023, 70 years later, our family of European Schools is successfully implementing Decombis' idea in everyday school life. The "European spirit" is felt everywhere, whether in regular classes, in the many extracurricular projects, or in the diversity of languages in the classroom.

Over the years, the European Schools have become a real success model, which is also reflected in the excellent Pisa results. We can look to the future with confidence! To our founding member, the European School Luxembourg, we sincerely wish "Alles Guddes" on its birthday!

The anniversary was celebrated with an inspiring conference at the European School Luxembourg I, in which our school management participated.
