Three different stations provided the framework for a personal exchange with EPO Director Talent Acquisition and Management Jeremy Scott last week, who will also be the new head of the EPO team responsible for the European Schools from April 1, 2024.
In the morning, Director Anton Hrovath, Director KG/GS Anastazija Avsec and Principal Educational Advisor HS Václav Salvet from the ESM management team visited the newly created cultural space "A&T 5-10" in the main building of the European Patent Office.
The huge area with a surface area of 3000 square meters used to be a file archive, materials warehouse and print shop. Since October 2023, it has been used for various themed exhibitions, a project space for contemporary art, parts of the EPO art collection and a future lab, among other things. Particular emphasis is placed on ensuring that the exhibiting artists incorporate the theme of sustainability into their works and make it visible.
Another important part of the area is the new permanent exhibition on the history of the European Patent Office. Entitled "The European Patent Journey", it traces the development of the system of industrial property protection and shows how the Patent Office protects innovations in Europe and helps them achieve a breakthrough.
In future, ESM students will also be able to visit this impressive cultural space as part of teaching projects. The ESM is happy to accept an offer from the Principal Director Communication of the EPO, Luis Berenguer Giménez. This is a good example of how the ESM also benefits from close cooperation with the EPO in everyday school life, in addition to the important financial support.
In the afternoon, Jeremy Scott visited the two ESM sites in Fasangarten and Neuperlach. During conversations and tours of the school buildings, the school's management team provided an in-depth insight into the structure and unique educational features of the ESM.
It was a successful day that opened up new insights and perspectives for both partners. Once again, it was clear that the EPO and ESM are working hand in hand in close cooperation with a view to the future to ensure an excellent education for students at the ESM.
